Hello out there, well despite me moaning that Xmas was a drag, I’ve had a lovely day! Even work was fun! It’s boxing day here but it must still be the 25th somewhere in the world. I did this design a couple of years ago and I’ve always wanted to re-create it and make it better. I’m not even going to link to the original….shudder…rolls eyes…. no clean up, each nail a different length and shape! What was I thinking?!
Over a white base I sponged a neon gradient using Color Club “Warhol” (pink), Ulta 3 “Tahiti” (orange) and Factorie Polished “Yellow Glow”. Then I painted in the trees, kangaroos and Santa with ink from a nail art pen and a brush.Maybe Santa is heading home after dropping off all the pressies around the world or maybe he’s going on holiday to Australia to beat the Artic cold! Leaving his pine trees behind him. I don’t really have a story for this one. Hope you have all had a great day. 🙂
Hello out there! If you have visited me before you might know that I like to stick “things” onto my nails. So this year for a different Xmas mani I thought I’d try tinsel. What a mess!! I got the stuff everywhere cutting it up into little pieces and trying to stick it on ….ooh glitter!
Here I’ve used small tinsel and stuck in down into a clear gel polish, which I then cured for a minute or so. Just until the tinsel held. I did manage to “glue” two of my fingers together at one point, that was a scary moment!
I’d better take the tinsel off now, before it ends up in someone’s food! Hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow with one more Xmas mani.
I’m at a loss for a funky titled name for this post. I don’t know about you but I’m sick of Xmas manis!!!!!!! But then again I can’t say I like Xmas too much, I always have to work and its hectic. The roads are busy, the shops are busy, people go a little crazy. If you don’t have lots of family or friends you end up feeling lonely. When asked where my Xmas spirit is, I usually reply…”I drank it!” Anyway onto to the nails…
For these I stamped with my own pink/magenta (unnamed) polish over a black base using Moyou london plates 07 and 08 from the Fashionista collection. The fleur de lis 3-D nail “stud” is from Born Pretty I think. Stay sane til Xmas!
Hello all, long time no see! Did you realise that we just celebrated “No nail art November”? Of course you didn’t because I just made that up! But I did go missing last November too due to a big hailstorm we had here. So perhaps November, nail art and me just don’t get on! Well this year I have spent nearly every spare minute working on a new project. I have created my own brand of nail polish called “Hit the Bottle polishes”. I wanted to make vibrant, bright, fun colours that stamp over black. At the moment I can only ship within Australia, as I’ve only been open a week so it’s early days yet. If you are interested you can find my online store here….http://hitthebottlepolishes.bigcartel.com/ I hope to add some glitter jellies very soon. Anyway onto today’s nails, a few days ago it was my birthday, so to snap myself out of my nail art drought I had to do some birthday nails right? I also had to try a new Moyou plate, Fashionista 07, this image is so gorgeous stamped! So I went for something really quick and easy. On the pinky and index finger I have used OPI “My Favourite Ornament”, on the middle finger a leather effect polish from the brand Model’s Own. The base on the ring finger is OPI “Designer, De-Better” stamped over with my own brand black called “Blacked Out”. Thanks for looking, promise I’ll be back soon!
Hey there! I wanted to post this yesterday, but I was just too tired to complete these nails. Last year for Halloween I did Goth Mona Lisa, so this year I wanted to paint her cousin Witch Mona Lisa. I used this image to make a waterslide decal, by printing the image onto waterslide decal paper. You can read more on how to make your own decals here.
I have no idea who created this version of Leonardo’s classic painting, so I can’t give credit. I love how she is holding a broomstick! The other three nails I’ve painted first with watercolour, but that didn’t seem to be working too well. So then I switched to polish.
I’ve also painted the “pr0per” Mona Lisa once, you can see her here.
Happy Halloween everyone! Not that we celebrate it where I live, but it’s such a great theme for nail art. Today I was inspired by this painting by an artist called Annya Kai. I started with a pale blue base and sponged various blues and purple tones getting darker toward the pinky and index finger. Then I top coated and painted in the trees and the witches in black acrylic paint.
I find it really hard to take photos of scenes like this, my fingers don’t want to sit straight and flat!
Well it seems this is a popular look this time of year! In my browsing of nail art today, many designs popped up like this. A gradient with a spooky scene. I wanted to create a scene of bats flying from the woods, across the suburbs to invade the city, or something like that!
I started with a couple of coats of Color Club “Jackie Oh!”, then sponged some paler no name pink on the tips. Then working from the middle up I sponged Color Club “Jack ‘n Jill” and “Ulterior Motive”. Finishing around the cuticle line with Chi Chi “Sophisticated Sassy”. Then I stamped with black using plate BBF 02 for the house and the bats. BM-224 for the spooky trees and plate Fun 2 for the city skyline. I love pink and black together!
If you watch the tv show The Walking Dead, you will be familiar with the fence around the jail that keeps the “walkers” out. I’ve tried to re-create that look by using this plate from BBF for the zombies, Mash-41 for the fence and Moyou plate 08 from the Biker collection for the barb wire. I started with a base of dappled grays and blues, then stamped over it with black and grays.
Have you ever noticed that I think in nearly every jail/fence scene it is overcast? I noticed this the other day and also when they kill lots of zombies, why isn’t there a massive pile of dead zombie bodies? But there is never a pile of bodies!
Another product that I got to review from the Born pretty store, was these cool silhouette style waterslide decals. I’m not really an orange fan, but these screamed out to be put over orange.
First I started with a coat of white, then I applied two coats of Color Club “Koo-Koo Cachoo” (um … bless you!). Toward the cuticle I sponged a little Ulta 3 “Burnt Orange” and then added a layer of orange jelly glitter polish that a friend got me from the Philippines, Caronia “Sunset”. Then I added the decals of the witch and her cat and a couple of gold studs. This turned out so much more striking than I thought it would and I love how the gold studs match the orange/gold glitter. I’m really liking studs at the moment and I find when I paint my nails I think….Ooh “Put a stud on it!” after watching this clip “Put a bird on it!” from the show Portlandia.
I thought I’d take a break from gory Halloween manis for today. Here I’ve used Savvy nail polish, on the pinky and index finger, in “Black Martini” which is a blackish polish loaded with silver glitter and the odd pieces of red in there too.
For the silver stamping I’ve used BBF plate 18 and the stud is from Born Pretty store, you can find them here. I like this, simple, elegant but at the same time a touch grungy.
