Zombie Bride…

LOOK….I did nails!!!! How could Halloween go past and I not do zombie nails??! Luckily the town where I live had the first ever zombie walk, so a couple of friends and I just had to go! I thought I had an original idea to dress as a zombie bride, but I saw 3 others there, so that was a fail on the originality factor! I had great fun dressing up, making my costume and dripping fake blood everywhere. I wanted my nails to look like I had been ripping flesh open and feeding….

Of course my hands were all bloody on the day, but fake blood stains and I really don’t want to recreate the look and have red stained hands again today….here’s the bloody garter I wore…..

Here’s what I looked like….death warmed up I hope! (Hi Mum! lol)

Day 2 orange…

I know it’s already the 3rd, and I’m behind. The truth is I don’t have time for nail art, but I suppose this is why I’m trying to do this challenge, to just get on with it and do it…time permitting. I’m thinking the only way to vaguely keep up, is to combine the days I’ve missed into one. So today was going to be orange and yellow, but then orange worked out okay. It will be interesting when the prompts get harder and I’ll have to combine rainbow with a gradient. Or animal print and flowers or a watermarbled galaxy…..hey this could be fun combining the days!

Day 2 orange 3

I’ve stamped using Pueen plate 56 from the buffet collection (the bold design on the middle and pinky) and two plates from the Bundle Monster “Shangri-La” collection, BM-S107 and BM-S102. The polish I used is an orange I’ve been working on, as yet unnamed. Any ideas for a name? So I guess tomorrow is yellow and green day!

Look who’s back?!! Day 1- Red

HELLO OUT THERE! Yes I’m yelling! I’m not even going to mention “slack blogger” and just dive right into today’s post. So it’s September, first day of Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere and first day of ….. the 31 day challenge! Are you thinking how are you going to pull this off Michelle? Yeah…me too! Well perhaps this is the kick that I need to get me back into doing nail art on a regular basis. While I still follow blogs and instagram accounts, I miss posting my own nails and interacting with you guys. There will be some shameless self promotion as I post some of my own polishes.

Over a base of black gel polish, I’ve stamped with Messy Mansion plate “The Bridal Nail 01” on the ring and middle finger using “Hit the Bottle” stamping polish in “Poison Apple”. This colour is not a true red as in tomato colour but more the deep red crimson colour of an apple.

Day 1 red gloss

On the ring finger I made a decal, so I could reverse the design. The other two fingers are stamped using plate JQ-L12 which I think I bought from Aliexpress. I always struggle with high shine top coats…so I dulled the shine with some Satin finish top coat.

So expect lots of simple manis and for better photos, that bit I’ve always struggled with the most. Okay better post quick before today is not today anymore!

Slackest blogger ever!

Hello out there! Oh my gosh how time flies! Do you know I actually try to post once a week?! Ha so much for that, since I have been absent for 2 months now!!! Well thanks to a email from Tumblr I discovered I been blogging for two years! Pfft, more like a year and half! It has gotten to the point where I think the nail art horse has bucked me off and I feel a little anxious about the whole process, as my photography has not improved at all. So I had on this simple galaxy mani, to try to tame that horse…

Then I realized the blog had turned two, which kind of came out of nowhere. I thought it was next month?! So I’ve painted over the top in white acrylic paint a design which hopefully conveys my surprise.

2nd blog birthday

Thanks to “Goose” who kindly sent me a message to see if I was okay. I miss nail art and I miss interacting with all you guys. I shall have to climb back on that horse and hold tight! Any ideas for a blog birthday giveaway? What would you like to see as a prize? Some of my stamping polishes perhaps? I like competitions, any ideas for one? Thanks 🙂

Lace stamping…

Hello there! This Sunday’s prompt in Adventures in Stamping is something which is totally not you. Well I don’t like brown too much, or gold or delicate designs. So I combined all three!

Lace stamping - Copy

For the brown polish I’ve used Sally Hansen “Bronze Ablaze”and the two white/gold nails are Layla “02” although you can’t see the gold sparkle too well in this polish. Over the brown nails I’ve stamped with a gold prototype I’m working on using a lace image from Messy Mansion plate 03 from The Bridal Nail collection. I’ve used the same image and stamped using Bronze Ablaze over the white/gold nails. Til next time.

Girly gothic grunge…

Hello out there, well I’ve been a somewhat slack blogger,  I swear the days do not have enough hours in them! Or maybe I am totally crap at managing my time, or both! So today  I have a simple stamping mani, that I actually had in my head for once. I’ve started with Color Club “Cool Breeze” as the base. Over that I’ve stamped very subtle stripes with Ulta 3 “Gold digger” using Messy Mansion plate MM06. Then I stamped in black the skeleton portrait from BM-612, and the ornate patterns are from The Bridal Nail 06 plate. Adding OPI Matte top coat and a couple of gold studs from Born Pretty store to finish it off.

Girly gothic 3

I’ve started a photograpy course…. can you tell? Photography has always been a struggle for me, so I know I can’t get any worse! Oh and if you’re looking for Greek pottery, you’re in the right place, its just been awhile 😉

Moody blues…

This week’s theme in AIS is to stamp over a blue base. On the pinky and index finger I have used Ulta 3 “Infamous” and stamped over it with Hit the Bottle stamping polish “Be-cider-self”( which is a pale yellow/green colour). I’ve stamped with Messy Mansion plate 01 from the Bridal Nail collection.

Stamping over blue

On the middle finger I’ve used a blue polish that I got ages ago from Born Pretty store, I think. Interestingly it says Crystal Sand on the side and is textured, this is probably the first textured polish I owned without even realizing it! On the ring finger I’ve used Maybelline Brocades “Beaming Blue”, which has gorgeous fine greeny gold sparkle in it. Think I forgot to top coat it though as it also looks a bit textured!

Soup-er…

Hello out there, I love soup! That is one of my favourite lines to explain why I like soup, because it is soup-er! I think Pop Art and Andy Warhol are pretty super too, and the soup can image on Moyou London plate 03 from the Rebel collection is probably the main reason why I bought this plate! So I’m glad to have an excuse to use it for the Sunday (yeah I know its Tuesday!) AIS stamping challenge, which is to stamp with three colours.

cambells soup tins

Here I’ve stamped with Hit the Bottle stamping polishes and made decals by filling in the blank space with a different colour. I’ve stamped with “Blue-tiful”, “Purple Reign”, “In the Limelight” and “Snowed In”. It’s late, I’m tired, back soon 🙂

Because I can…

So at the risk of having my mum ring me everyday for the next week, I’m going to share with you a little secret….. I get depressed, there I’ve said it! Apparently 80% of the population do at some point. When I feel down, I don’t feel like doing anything, but today I made myself do nails, because I know that being creative also makes me happy. So when looking for a plate that appealed to me in my crappy mood, Moyou London Punk collection 04 jumped out at me. Maybe it was the skeleton sticking up its middle finger?!

moyou punk 2

On my middle finger, I’ve used my all time favourite polish OPI “Push and Shove” and stamped over it in black with that naughty skeleton…how rude! On the ring finger I’ve used a black leather effect polish and some seriously dangerous looking studs! The other two fingers are just a coat of black stamped with Essie “No Place Like Chrome” and a gorgeous skull /wallpaper like pattern.  Thanks for looking and mum I feel better today okay. So to all you people that feel down sometimes, seriously doesn’t everyone, remember you are not alone. That doing something that you enjoy, often makes you feel better. Exercise is a great too….*note to self….do more exercise!

Nude knitting…

Hello out there! Yes I’m a slack blogger, what with Xmas, family visits and work there has been little time left for nails. Now life is back to normal  and no, I’m not sitting here knitting in the nude! In my mind I wanted to create a fluffy white/beige jumper look. I started with a base of OPI “My Vampire Is Buff”, over that I sponged OPI “Berlin There Done That” using cling (saran) wrap method, to create a mottled look. You can see the base before stamping on the ring finger, where I have also applied a gold stud from Born Pretty store.

Nude knitting

Then I stamped using Messy Mansion plate MM40 and my own brand Hit the Bottle polish in “Everyday I’m Truffling”. A metallic chocolate brown colour. This look is so not me, its neutral, soft, delicate, but somehow I really like it! Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age! At this point I can only ship within Australia, but I am working on international shipping.
